US Army Launches the Fuze Innovation Program

On 15 September 2025, the Secretary of the U.S. Army, the Honorable Dan Driscoll, announced the establishment of FUZE, a new technology integration enterprise designed to synchronize the service’s innovation programs under a single framework. Presented at the Army Demand Signal Forum in Arlington, Virginia, FUZE consolidates xTech, the Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer initiatives, Manufacturing Technology, and the Technology Maturation Initiative. The intent is to streamline the path from concept to deployment and to inject a venture-capital style mindset into defense acquisition. The announcement underscores the Army’s recognition that incremental modernization is insufficient in the face of rapidly evolving near-peer threats. By adopting a system that reduces decision-making timelines from months to days, Army leaders are seeking to institutionalize agility within procurement processes and reinforce deterrence credibility in a contested strategic environment.
