UK Secures £10bn Warship Deal with Norway
The United Kingdom has achieved its largest-ever warship export agreement, cementing closer defence ties with Norway at a time of rising geopolitical tensions in the Arctic and North Atlantic. The £10bn deal, centred on the sale of at least five British Type-26 frigates, will be a significant boost for Scotland’s shipbuilding industry and reinforce NATO’s maritime capabilities. As competition intensifies over security in the High North, the agreement reflects a shared determination between London and Oslo to strengthen deterrence against Russian submarine activity and to safeguard critical infrastructure across Northern Europe.
