Strategic autonomy for the European Union is no longer a theoretical ambition but a technical necessity defined by the mastery of Deep Intelligence. This multidimensional field represents the ability to extract, process, and protect critical data across a sovereign technological stack that remains entirely independent of foreign control or interference. As geopolitical tensions reshape global supply chains, the capacity to maintain a clear and unfiltered view of the physical world while securing the cognitive and systemic layers of decision-making has become the ultimate measure of regional resilience. This transition requires a fundamental shift from being a consumer of external digital platforms to becoming a producer of highly specialized “choke point” technologies that ensure the integrity of the European Single Market. Achieving this level of autonomy is a multi-year project that demands the seamless integration of industrial capacity, scientific research, and legislative frameworks such as Regulation (EU) 2025/1106. This article explores how specific intelligence domains are being built while simultaneously addressing the structural obstacles that threaten to slow down Europe’s progress toward a truly sovereign and resilient digital future for all citizens.
