SWISSto12 is a Swiss-born aerospace manufacturer specializing in radio-frequency (RF) components and small communications satellites built with additive manufacturing. A spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), the company pioneers 3D-printed high-performance antennas and small geostationary satellite systems. Its signature “HummingSat” platform aims to deliver lightweight, cost-effective GEO satellites, and SWISSto12 reports over 1,000 3D-printed RF devices successfully deployed in orbit[1][2]. Backed by European space consortia and global satellite operators, SWISSto12’s technology is promoted as nearly “100% European-made” – a direct response to ambitions for strategic autonomy in space communications[3][4]. By integrating radio-frequency innovation with industrial-scale additive processes, the firm embodies a new wave of European defense innovation: it could help substitute non-allied suppliers for critical satellite and ground communications hardware while enhancing joint interoperability.
