Poland Launches New RDX/HMX Production Line to Strengthen Defence Industry
Poland’s decision to initiate a new production line for high-energy explosives marks a significant development in Europe’s defence industrial landscape. On 24 November 2025, Nitro-Chem S.A. and PROZAP Sp. z o.o.—a subsidiary of Grupa Azoty—formally signed an agreement for the design and engineering of a new facility dedicated to the production of RDX (hexogen) and potentially HMX (octogen). This agreement, concerning the preparation of FEED-level technical documentation, represents the first concrete phase of the investment. The site will be located within Nitro-Chem’s existing facilities and is designed to enhance national and European capabilities in the production of advanced explosive materials. The decision aligns with broader trends in European defence policy aimed at expanding domestic capacity and reducing reliance on external suppliers, particularly for critical components in the production of munitions.
