MilDef Secures Major Contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace for Rugged IT Equipment
On July 7, 2025, MilDef announced it has been awarded a contract valued at SEK 225 million by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace for the supply of ruggedised IT equipment. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026 and will support Kongsberg’s growing needs for digitalised defence systems. This agreement represents MilDef’s largest single contract in the Norwegian market to date and marks a significant step forward in the long-standing collaboration between the two companies.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is Norway’s leading provider of advanced defence solutions, covering domains such as command and control, tactical communications, surveillance systems, remote weapon stations, space applications, and missile systems. MilDef has previously supplied a range of rugged IT hardware—including mission-critical computers, servers, switches, and displays—for integration into Kongsberg’s platforms. The new equipment will contribute to improving the robustness, security, and performance of Kongsberg’s operational capabilities across multiple use cases.
Daniel Ljunggren, President and CEO of MilDef, emphasised the strategic significance of the agreement: “This is MilDef’s single largest contract on the Norwegian market, and we are honoured to contribute to a leading-edge defence system manufactured in Norway. It highlights how Nordic defence companies collaborate and take joint responsibility for Europe’s defence preparedness.” The statement reflects a broader commitment among Nordic defence firms to enhance regional industrial integration and interoperability within the European defence ecosystem.
The contract extension builds on the existing framework agreement between MilDef and the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), originally signed in May 2020 and extended through 2025. This continued partnership reflects a high level of confidence in MilDef’s product reliability, supply chain performance, and ability to deliver cutting-edge IT infrastructure suited for military environments. The company’s products are known for their durability, cybersecurity standards, and adaptability to demanding operational contexts.
The award further consolidates MilDef’s position as a key supplier of tactical IT solutions in the European defence market. It follows the company’s recent expansion initiatives, including the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Wales and a subsidiary in Denmark aimed at accelerating its presence in Nordic and NATO-aligned countries. These moves signal MilDef’s intent to scale its international footprint while reinforcing Europe’s technological sovereignty in critical defence supply chains.
