Alloyed Ltd – Advanced Metal Alloy Design and Manufacturing
Alloyed Ltd is a venture-backed deep-tech spin-off from the University of Oxford. Founded in 2017 and now a multi-million-pound scale-up[1], it provides proprietary advanced metal alloys and end-to-end additive manufacturing solutions for aerospace and high-tech applications[2][3]. Its core platform uses AI-driven materials design, aligning with EU priorities in advanced materials and military AI, and it delivers components for Air and Space domains (e.g. satellite antennas, jet-engine parts)[4][5]. Funded by ~£78M from international investors (Oxford Science Enterprises, Anglo American, Japan’s DBJ and SPARX)[1][6], Alloyed has forged ties with Boeing (US) and JX Metals (Japan) supporting NATO interoperability. By enabling novel alloy chemistries (e.g. reducing reliance on cobalt/tungsten[7]), it could bolster European supply-chain resilience. However, it currently participates in no formal EU/NATO defense programs. Overall, Alloyed is an emerging capability with strategic relevance to European autonomy and deterrence, albeit outside mainstream EU defense frameworks.
