Alkalee is a French deep-tech startup spin-off from the CEA-List (the digital systems lab of France’s CEA) in late 2020[1][2]. It commercializes software tools and hardware prototypes that radically rethink vehicle electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures. By centralizing computing functions and using formal design methods, Alkalee’s suite (notably Euphilia for system modeling and Koreel for scalable computing hardware) promises to shorten development cycles and make complex vehicles easier to upgrade and secure[3][4]. Originally developed under a joint Renault–CEA R&D program (FACE), the technology aims not only at cars but potentially at any autonomous or connected vehicle – including industrial or defense platforms[3][4]. This report assesses Alkalee’s strategic-technological profile in the context of European defense autonomy. We examine how Alkalee’s innovations align with EU and NATO priorities (e.g. software-defined vehicles, cybersecurity, autonomous systems) and to what extent they could enhance Europe’s deterrence and reduce dependencies on non-allied suppliers.
