Advanced Radar Technologies (ART): Strategic-Technological Analysis
Advanced Radar Technologies (ART) is a Spanish research-driven company specializing in high-performance radar systems and associated software for security, defense, and space applications[1][2]. Its founders were long-time radar researchers at the Technical University of Madrid, and ART was established in 2010 as a private Spanish spin-off[1]. The firm’s products are designed to detect and track diverse airborne threats (including small drones and artillery rounds) and support situational awareness. In doing so ART embodies European strategic autonomy objectives by providing a homegrown alternative to foreign sensor technologies. Its radars have been field-proven in NATO and EU exercises and civil applications, from coastal surveillance networks to airport and renewable-energy security. At the same time, ART collaborates with European integrators and research consortia (for example, on autonomous aerial mobility) to ensure interoperability with allied systems. This report evaluates ART’s technology portfolio, readiness, and strategic value in strengthening EU defense sovereignty and NATO cohesion.
